And, what is it that I have to decide between Dream or Reality?, you may wonder. Well, look at the text of the picture of this article:
Nothing happens that has not been a dream.
If you consider your life as a movie, what screenplay do you follow? One that you wrote or one that someone has written to you?. Do not betray yourself and answer yourself with sincerity: Does working five days a week for others, for two days of “freedom”, is the screenplay you’ve written for your life?
If you don’t have the Dream of writing the screenplay for your life, then you’ll have the Reality that others write it for you.
If you just want to take control of your life, to have Financial Freedom, to decide for yourself, then that is Your Dream. I know it is more “serious” talk about Objectives rather than Dreams, but this is due to how they educate us: “Children have dreams, adults do not”, “You have to be realistic and keep your feet on the ground “, “Dreaming is for fools “,” You’re always in the clouds “, etc.
How many times you’ve heard these phrases?. In the end, after hearing them hundreds of times, they remain in the depths of our subconscious and we no longer dare to talk about Dreams. But then we hear different people talk about dreams in his speeches, like the classic “I have a dream” by Martin Luther King. Do you think Luther King had set an objective or had a dream?
Also many times, when we hear different successful Entrepreneurs talking about their projects, some times talk about they had a dream.
And there’s our subconscious, “helping us to be realistic” and saying us: “Sure, they talk about dreams because they are special people who have capabilities and skills that I don’t have and they can afford to dream, but I have to be realistic and follow the screenplay that someone has written to me“.
Dream and Reality, one after the other
If you’re serious about being Entrepreneur, then you must have Your Dream. But this is not in contradiction with reality or being realistic. As you know, dreams do not pay your bills, but it will be the engine that will make you to set realistic objectives and move you to action.
As I explained in the post Success or Failure, Can I choose?, you have to fail several times before succeeding. And, what happens when you have failed several times, when you have not met your goals? You will need something that motivate you to keep going, to not give up, and that will be Your Dream.
Read and meditate on this phrase:
Living a few years of your life like most people won’t, so that you can spend the rest of your life like most people can’t.
Are you willing to pay the price?
If you have Your Dream, it will be easier to you “Living a few years of your life like most people won’t” in order to “Spend the rest of your life like most people can’t.”
Have you noticed that almost all ads from lotteries and gambling they talk about dreams?. For many, that’s what means a dream: that they win the lottery. And these are the ones who will tell you that you have to be realistic. That’s the easy dream and as it is so easy, it is practically never reached, but as it does not require any effort, it is the dream of millions of people.
I confess you that sometimes I spend some money on lotteries, even in my YNAB budget (my Personal Finance Management system) I have a budget item of € 15 a month for this, but I will say that for months I did not buy anything of lotteries.
The Dream I talk in this blog is not the one of lottery, is the dream you’ll need to “Living a few years of your life like most people won’t“; the years required before your projects start to succeed.
Dream and Reality are not two incompatible things. You need both, but in the correct order.
First you must have Your Dream and then to make it Reality, you have to be realistic, set your objectives and establish a plan of action.
I remember a conversation I had last year with a person who wanted to incorporate into my group of “dreamers”. She told me she needed a “motivating idea”, something realistic, and I was talking about the dream of Financial Freedom, something very intangible. Also, like me, she was a person who worked as an Employee, with little time to become Entrepreneur. But if I had spoken to her of a “motivating idea” of a particular project, what would happen if the project fails?. Well, possibly she would reaffirm herself with the idea that it is better to be Employee than Entrepreneur.
I prefer the “dreamers”, because after a failure they are asking, “Well, what’s the next project?”.
This failure to convince this person, gave me the idea for this blog. The idea of sharing the journey with those who sail the same waters and have the same dreams.
And finally I leave you with the video “Do you dare to dream?“. I recommend you to see it until the end when you have a quiet time.
